I promised you my love story for Valentines day and since I hate to raise expectations and not living up to it, here we go.
It was a strange time when I was commuting between London and Vienna. I felt a bit restless when I went out this very important evening wearing my black Jil Sander dress (my very favorite one). I followed the invitation to the charity event of Francesca von Habsburg, which was taking place at the Ankerbrot Fabrik in the middle of nowhere. I wasn’t really in the mood but my friends kind of dragged me there. So. Here I was. Sipping my Diet Coke in the middle of the room when my husband crossed my way. I looked at him, grabbed the hand of my friend and said: “Thats him. ”
And that was it. Easy. Not complicated. No drama. Just love from the very first sight as he felt the same. He approached me 5 minutes later. After 3 hours of chitchat he took me home by cab and I left without giving him my number or a name (as he never guessed my name as I told him to). I knew he will find me, at least he had my address.
So I disappeared into the night.
The next day I received a message on asmallworld.net where he was asking me out for dinner. And so I followed his invitation. He picked me up, we went for sushi (DOTS -thats why we love it), we had a great night, and we knew that this will last forever.
A year later he went down on his knees. In the bathroom. Me getting ready for our dinner reservation at DOTS. And proposed. About a year later we got married in Vienna with a conservative and beautiful wedding.
My first gift I received from my husband are two peacocks from Herend. Porcelain. With gold. When he asked me why I am traveling so much and why I am so so restless I answered: “Well, I guess at one point I will buy a house and a garden. And then I will get two peacocks and name them Estragon &Vladimir. And this will be my home.” So when dating just a couple of weeks he gave me the present with a note: ” I want to give you the home you are looking for.”
What should I say? Every day gets better. And sometimes I can’t believe how lucky I am. And how blessed. And sometimes I ask myself how I possibly deserve such a great life as my heart is filled with nothing else than happiness. And I can tell you, I am so grateful for meeting my better half .
The only advice I can give you when it comes to dating: If it starts complicated it will end complicated. But it will end. So don’t chase the wrong love storys: There might be somebody crossing your way very soon. Unexpected. Out of nowhere. And it could be HIM.
Have a great Valentines day,
